There are many common pregnancy symptoms. While they range in intensity for each woman, they’re often a good indication – even before you take a pregnancy test – that you might be pregnant.

Early Pregnancy Symptoms

Even if you experience every symptom on the list below, it’s still vitally important for you to take a pregnancy test. This is because while these are common symptoms of pregnancy, they can also point to other issues with your body caused by stress, hormonal changes, or other factors. If you aren’t pregnant, it can signal that it’s time to visit a doctor to find out what else may be going on.

Late or Missed Period

This is often the telltale sign of pregnancy, especially if your cycle is usually very regular. If your period is at least a week late or you’ve missed it entirely, you should take a pregnancy test to confirm.

Tender, Swollen Breasts

The next most common sign of pregnancy is sore, tender, or swollen breasts. As your body produces more progesterone than normal, new breast tissue is forming and is felt most intensely in the first few months of pregnancy.

Nausea & Vomiting

This is perhaps the most uncomfortable and worst symptom of pregnancy, especially in the first several weeks. Your body is going through a lot of changes, and that can lead to various body systems (especially your digestive system) feeling out of whack. This is often referred to as “Morning Sickness”.

Fatigue

You may also feel very tired during the early stages of pregnancy. If you struggle to get through the day without napping, or run out of energy, then you may be pregnant, especially if this symptom is combined with any of the others above.

Food Aversions or Cravings

Are you craving foods you’ve always hated? Or can’t stand the thought of foods you’ve previously loved? This is a common symptom of pregnancy that’s confusing … and your preferences can continue to change throughout the pregnancy!

Mood Swings

These can feel strange and unsettling if you are typically an even-keeled person without emotional highs and lows. As your body produces new hormones, it’s natural for your emotions to swing as well.
